Construction at MMIP resumes
The P305 M Budget for the Rehabilitation and Completion for Stage I of the Malitubog-Maridagao Irrigation Project (MMIP) has been approved and another P 6.1 B has been appropriated for its Stage II during the presentation and
deliberation of the Infrastructure Committee of the Regional Development Council last Sept. 9, 2011 at Koronadal City.
Divided into phases, the implementation of the completion of the MMIP Stage I resumes with a budget of P169 M for C.Y. 2011 and P136 M for C.Y. 2012.
For the 5-year implementation of the MMIP Stage II, the NEDA has approved the proposal amounting to P6.1 B fund for the MMIP Stage II, of which, a total amount of P405 M has already been released.
Supported by the RDC Infrastructure Committee, on the endorsement of the Memorandum of Understanding on the creation of an Implementation, Monitoring and Advisory Group (IMAG for MalMar) under the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA), the completion of the project will be implemented in nine (9) packages by contracts, and some, through aid of the Province of Cotabato.
Furthermore, the IMAG for MalMar has requested the National Irrigation Administration Central Office (NIA) for a P31 M budget to compensate the farmers whose areas have been submerged in Carmen, Cotabato brought about by the construction of the MMIP.
Meanwhile, a request has also been forwarded to His Excellency President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III to allocate funds for the improvement and completion of the Gocotan, Pikit portion of the irrigation project. //LAF-IDCD-PGO//
